child's black rocking chair

Here's a second little rocker I completed recently.  It would look so cute in a little boy's room!  I painted it in Beluga Black flat acrylic paint, heavily distressed it and finished it with several coats of clear wax, as well as a coat of polyurethane (water-based) for extra protection.  Click HERE for more info on my For Sale page.

child's Jenny Lind rocking chair

This is an adorable little Jenny Lind style rocking chair that I refinished recently.  I painted it in Pure White ASCP, distressed it fairly heavily and finished it with several coats of clear wax.  If you're interested in purchasing this little beauty click HERE to link to my For Sale page for more info.

piano stool

This beautiful antique piano stool needed a bit of fixing when I purchased it (I didn't realize this until I got it home!).  The swivel mechanism no longer worked, it was likely stripped, and a previous owner had installed some make-shift supports for the seat. It wasn't pretty, or functional, as the seat could not be lowered/raised.

Fortunately while picking up side rails at one of my favorite antique stores (Napier's Country Antiques) in Langley, Matt thought of asking about the piano stool (smart man - it wasn't on my mind at all!).  I totally lucked out, Ken just happened to have what I needed - an original 'threaded dowel' he had salvaged from a piano stool of the same era.  The parts were an exact match so swapping them out took no time at all, and the piece is back to its original condition!

Next came the actual fun part - painting :)  I used a flat black acrylic paint and finished it with wax. After considering the use a piece like this might see, I added a coat of polyurethane (water-based) on the seat for extra protection.  I've included a before picture at the bottom but unfortunately you can't see the ugly supports someone had nailed on!

oval coffee table

Here's the Queen Anne oval coffee table I mentioned in my previous post.  This table would look lovely in the same room as the burlap stool!

snow day and a pretty stool

Good afternoon!  I don't know what the weather is doing at your place today but here's what it's doing at mine!

I'm bundled up on the sofa with my computer today and have a little Queen Anne-style stool to show you.  She was originally upholstered in a dusty pink polka dot fabric (not up my alley!).  I pulled off the dusty pink and revealed a 'lovely' (really bad!) floral fabric underneath - should've taken a picture!  I decided to paint and then re-upholster this cutie in a coffee bean sack with matching fabric underneath.  I also replaced the foam and batting.  I love the graphics and how it says "doing great things".  Before pictures are at the bottom.  I have a Queen Anne oval coffee table coming up that would go perfectly with this little stool!  Stay tuned for several more furniture posts - I've been a busy girl!

cottage dining table

How's everyone's Christmas season going so far?  Hopefully you've found time to relax and enjoy a rum and eggnog in front of your Christmas tree during what is usually a crazy shopping season for many.  There are no little ones in my immediate family so we decided several years ago to forgo Christmas gifts.  It has really changed the season for me and I look forward to it much more now.  Hence my having time to continue to refinish furniture in December!

I found this adorable round dining table while on a V.V. (Value Village) hunt in Bellingham last month.  I have a thing for round tables and immediately fell in love with the cute scallop detailing, Duncan Phyfe style legs, and brass capped feet.  She screamed white at me, and so she is.  Before pictures are at the bottom.  Click HERE for measurements and pricing.
