snow day and a pretty stool

Good afternoon!  I don't know what the weather is doing at your place today but here's what it's doing at mine!

I'm bundled up on the sofa with my computer today and have a little Queen Anne-style stool to show you.  She was originally upholstered in a dusty pink polka dot fabric (not up my alley!).  I pulled off the dusty pink and revealed a 'lovely' (really bad!) floral fabric underneath - should've taken a picture!  I decided to paint and then re-upholster this cutie in a coffee bean sack with matching fabric underneath.  I also replaced the foam and batting.  I love the graphics and how it says "doing great things".  Before pictures are at the bottom.  I have a Queen Anne oval coffee table coming up that would go perfectly with this little stool!  Stay tuned for several more furniture posts - I've been a busy girl!

cottage dining table

How's everyone's Christmas season going so far?  Hopefully you've found time to relax and enjoy a rum and eggnog in front of your Christmas tree during what is usually a crazy shopping season for many.  There are no little ones in my immediate family so we decided several years ago to forgo Christmas gifts.  It has really changed the season for me and I look forward to it much more now.  Hence my having time to continue to refinish furniture in December!

I found this adorable round dining table while on a V.V. (Value Village) hunt in Bellingham last month.  I have a thing for round tables and immediately fell in love with the cute scallop detailing, Duncan Phyfe style legs, and brass capped feet.  She screamed white at me, and so she is.  Before pictures are at the bottom.  Click HERE for measurements and pricing.

french provincial side table

Good afternoon!  I have a sturdy little side table to share with you today.  It's vintage French Provincial and very shabby-chic!  I found this pretty thing on craigslist about two years ago (I went through a 'stocking up' phase with furniture and had many pieces that sat for a long time!).  I finally painted her up last week, added pretty glass knobs and paper lining in the drawer.  Here she is (before pictures at the bottom):

damask side cabinet

This piece is something a bit different for me.  I tried my hand at wallpapering a little vintage side cabinet.  I used some pretty black and white damask patterned wallpaper on the top and the door.  I also added some 'bun' style feet to update it a little more.  It was a bit tricky but I think it worked out pretty well for a first try :)

Check it out:

a new desk

I found this little desk several months back for the bargain price of $12.99.  Thank you Value Village - sometimes you still know how to price like a thrift store!  At first I planned on refinishing this one for sale...and painting it black.  But after starting my move-biz-from-dining-room-down-to-suite shuffle I realized that it would be a great piece to replace the beast of a desk (5 feet by almost 3 feet!) we've been using in our family room.

I still think the desk would look fantastic black, but white was more of the look I was going for in the front room/study I am decorating.  I am still having second thoughts though!

All these furniture moves have freed up a lot of space in our family room, which will allow me to move a cabinet and make room for book shelves in the study, etc!  There will be pictures eventually once the room is finished.

Here she is:

Stay tuned for some more 'show and tell' soon!
